At Structural Dimensions, Inc. (SDI), we are proud to partner with Spirit Care Homes to transform a single-family home in Minnetonka into a fully functional residential assisted living space. This project, spanning over two years, reimagines a traditional 6,033 sq. ft. home into a beautiful, accessible facility designed to provide comfort and safety for senior residents. The newly remodeled space will include eight private bedrooms, one shared bedroom, and eight bathrooms, offering a home-like atmosphere with the feel of independence and warmth.

From the beginning, our goal was to honor Spirit Care’s vision of reinventing senior care, combining universal design principles with the comforts of home. The home will feature an elevator, garage lift, curbless showers, and wide transitional spaces to ensure easy navigation for all mobility levels. Finishes like warm wood accents, spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms, and a cozy, accessible layout ensure that the home provides both aesthetic appeal and functionality.

As we completed demo and began framing, we carefully integrated in-floor heating, no-step showers with reinforced grab bars, and other age-in-place solutions. Beyond just this project, SDI's expertise in aging-in-place remodeling ensures that homeowners can incorporate these thoughtful features into their existing homes, making them adaptable to future lifestyle changes. Elements like pull-out shelving, slip-resistant flooring, multi-level counters, and lever door handles can enhance any home’s accessibility and safety without compromising style.

In collaboration with Spirit Care Homes, we’ve also ensured the highest level of safety by installing a state-of-the-art fire sprinkler system, requiring a new water line for adequate pressure. The system integrates smoke detectors, security systems, and full home mechanical monitoring, providing peace of mind for residents and caregivers alike.
