We begin with an in-home consultation with Michelle and Ron, the owners of SDI, where we'll thoroughly explore the details of your project. During this session, we’ll take time to understand your vision, evaluate possible design options, and review any materials you’ve brought, such as sketches, plans, or inspiration pieces.

At this point, we discuss a high-level rough estimate and overview of timeline to ensure your ideas align with your financial expectations. As Ron Zach often tells clients, "Anything is possible—my job is to figure out how to make it happen and how much it will cost." For us, this is the moment where we ensure we’re all on the same page, or as we like to say, "we’re playing the same ball game!"

Once we’ve established a rough budget and timeline that fits your needs, the design phase begins. Chris, our expert draftsman, will visit your home to take precise measurements. At this point, we’ll request a design deposit to cover the time spent creating your custom plans. This deposit varies depending on your project’s complexity and the time required for drafting and measuring.

Our collaborative team—Chris, Michelle, and Ron—will then develop several design options for your review. Using advanced 3D software, we’ll invite you to our office to explore these plans, allowing you to visualize and discuss the potential of your newly transformed space.

When a design is close to your vision, we move to the preliminary bidding stage. This process takes several weeks as we gather detailed information from our trusted partners. Once the bids are in, you’ll be invited back to review the proposed budget, ensuring clarity and alignment before we move forward.

This streamlined approach ensures transparency and personalized attention at every step, giving you confidence and control throughout your home transformation journey.

After finalizing your design plan and preliminary budget, the Selection Phase begins, where the finer details come into focus. Michelle will guide you through every aspect of your project, from tile selections, grout options, and cabinet designs to countertops, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and paint colors. During this phase, we’ll carefully consider how each choice aligns with your budget, timeline, design style, and overall vision.

With Michelle’s expertise, the process feels seamless, even as you make multiple important decisions. Once selections are finalized, we’ll send the updated plans out for rebids, as specific choices can influence the final cost estimates.

At this point, we’ll schedule a meeting to review the updated project costs and move forward with drafting the contract. This contract will include all detailed work and selections, the total project cost, and a clear payment schedule.

We’ll also set a target start date, which we strive to maintain. However, if there’s a delay, the project start may need to be rescheduled for the next available slot, which could be weeks or even months later.

Please note that this phase can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to several months, depending on the project’s scope and availability of all parties to meet.

The construction phase is where your vision becomes reality. SDI's expert team, led by owners Michelle Byers and Ron Zach, ensures every detail is flawlessly executed. With decades of experience in construction management, Ron serves as the general contractor, making sure every project is completed with precision.
